We are currently looking for a PCC Secretary, a Safeguarding Officer and an Electoral Roll Officer for the parish, as the person who has been holding these roles for the last 5 years has now stepped down.
PCC Secretary
This includes working with the vicar on agendas, taking minutes of PCC meetings, and distributing minutes and agendas and other information before meetings (4 times a year). We also have a Standing Committee meeting 2 weeks before each PCC meeting, to agree agendas and paperwork, and to deal with anything urgent. The PCC Secretary is also the contact person between Leeds Diocese and our parish, so receives information, and decides with the vicar what to circulate or act on. Each year there is an AGM (called the APCM), and there is paperwork to do that for that.
Electoral Roll Officer
The Electoral Roll is the church membership list, and nothing to do with the Council Electoral Register. This involves keeping the list on a computer and keeping it up to date for each of the 4 churches – adding people (name, address and contact info) if they join, and taking them off if they die or move away. Every 6 years, we send out new forms and renew the list completely. We report on this at the APCM.
Safeguarding Officer
This involves holding the Safeguarding brief for the PCC, receiving information and training through the diocese, and making sure that the members are up to date on their training. This also involves working with the vicar and the Safeguarding team in the diocese if a Safeguarding issue comes up.
These could be held by 3 different people, or one person could do more than one of these roles.
If you might be interested in supporting our parish work in this way, please contact the vicar.
